Kathleen Soriano spent 18 years of her career as Director of Exhibitions & Collections at the National Portrait Gallery, running the BP Portrait Award for the majority of that time, and is now one of the judges on SkyArts' successful SkyArts Portrait Artist of the Year series.
Book of Change
The “Book of Change” is a collection of poems with a focus on the existential questions which face us all, the purpose and meaning of life, the significance of love, and how our passage through this universe might lead us to an understanding of eternity. The poems are in the school of the romantic poets of the 18th and 19th Centuries with use of rhyme and regular stanzas. Accompanying Kyril Calsoyas’ poems are a series of drawings by Raoof Haghighi, The drawings also suggest existential questions for the reader through the use of dissonance and blending of classical and modern techniques.
My painting ‘The Reader’ has been selected for the BP portrait awards 2015.
More than 2,748 portraits from a record 92 countries were submitted for the BP portrairt awards 2015 and 55 has been selected for the exhibition.
The exhibition opens to the public at the National Portrait Gallery in London from 18 June - 20 September 2015. The exhibition will then go on tour to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh (10 October – 28 February, 2016) and the Ulster Museum, Belfast (March – June, 2016).
